This is a LINAK lifting column - which looks very similar to the mechanism used in the PierTech piers. This is a short column - only about 16" tall, and the "stroke length" (additional height) is only about 8". But the column rises very accurately (can maintain polar alignment), and can lift 360 pounds (it will support a max of 450 pounds). So, this might be very handy for someone needing to get their scope a bit above their roll-off roof observatory ... or for other projects.
I bought this new (at auction), and never checked it out ... but as far as I know, it is a new column, and should be fully functional. LINAK also makes power supplies and switches, but you can easily make your own (12V). This is a project item, and I urge you do to your own research. I am including images of the LINAK spec sheet for this column for your reference (starting point).
I don't know what to charge for this, or if anyone is interested, so I'm using the Astromart auction. However, I just (7/19) checked with LINAK USA, and it seems these are only sold to manufacturers (not direct), and the low-volume price is $500-600 (!). I've set the Buy-Now price at $350 (i.e., about 70% of the lower estimate for the new price), and the Reserve price at what I actually paid for the column.
UPDATE 7/20: If you need a taller LINAK column (28") and longer stroke (20"), there is one currently on eBay for only $999! (or you could go directly to Pier-Tech and get a complete set-up for $850)
