This is the best case Celestron offered for their C90 (rubberized or black gloss). They were a factory upgrade and, for most, these were acquired as a separate (and expensive) purchase.
It will fit ANY C90 optical tube from 1978-2000. It will not house the C90 Astro or Chinese-made models as those are larger dimensions. These cases are far more secure over the early '80s hard plastic cases, which are very nice, but their hard plastic unitary latches warp over time and allow the case to suddenly unlatch on its own.
The earliest generation vinyl-wrapped wood box C90 cases are very durable, but are not moisture resistant and cannot be locked. This model can be locked, has a larger volume, and has factory cut foam for fitting your C90 with 8x20 finder, a .965" ocular, a 1.25" ocular, a 35mm standard format camera (some digitals will fit in this), and (2) more rectangle molds for, say a box of filters, a squat 2" eyepiece, a 1.25" diagonal in the box, a couple 1.25" filters in their plexi cases or???
And these foam borders can be cut or modified to your needs.
EXACT inside dimensions in inches: 14.6 L x 10.5 W x 5.75 H
Weighs 2 pounds 14 ounces
Outstanding protection provided against shock and moisture!
Cosmetics are excellent all the way around, especially for its age; EXCEPT for a small crack near the upper right side seam. See the last photo. This hides pretty well and it cannot be pushed in. I don't find it to be a moisture leak issue unless this case were actually submerged in water. It it is dewy or raining outside, the contents will still be safe.
Other than that, the seams are true, hinges true, the foam molding is not stinky, heavily stained or modified. The latch locks and releases perfectly and the handle is firmly mounted.
All nations welcome to bid.
