This is an Astro Physics 180mm ( 7.1 inch) F 7 Refractor Telescope. If you would like the specifications you can download them at

This is an opportunity to own one of the rarest, and finest modern day telescopes, with a Chisten triplet lens. I am the first and only owner of this telescope. I bought this scope via a private sale in 2004. I have taken a few photos with it, but mostly have used it visually. Stunning visuals!

Since mounting in the Big Cigar Observatory, the telescope has not been off the mount until now. It is currently at AP getting the once over from Roland.

There are a couple of minor paint flakes at the point of contact of the dew shield and the dew cap cover. This is from taking the cover on and off. This can be re-painted with Corvette White, used on 1984-1992 GMC Corvette cars, manufacturing code 40 or WA8554 I have chosen not to attempt this because it has no affect at all on visual or photographic capabilities. The field flattener is included with this sale as well as mounting rings.

This telescope is serial #18. This scope has the newest anti-reflective coatings. In my discussions with Roland, he indicated that the newer coatings allow about 30% more light to enter the system over the same exposure period compared to the older coatings. This is a big benefit for photographic work.

I am selling to help my kids with college education expenses. I have enjoyed using this telescope and I know the next owner will too. It is definitely a conversation piece and will attract the attention of experts and novices alike. The 180 F7 is highly prized in the astronomy community. It is recognized as a collectable item and rarely comes for sale.

Wire transfer, Cashier or Certified Bank draft seem most appropriate for payment. Shipping will also be buyer responsibility. Meeting delivery may be possible if sold in the Midwest. Shipment will occur when funds have cleared.

PICTURE IS NOT THE ACTUAL SCOPE - THE ACTUAL SCOPE LOOKS MUCH BETTER. I forgot to take a pic before I dropped it off at AP.
