This is one of a few rare high-end scopes I recently acquired from the 85 year old brother of an MIT physicist who unfortunately left this mortal plane soon after he purchased this Pentax 100 in the late 70's to early 80's. It has been virtually unused and stored in its case all these many years and, it looks it. I have since had it set up, used it and admired it a number of times and, there's a lot to admire here. The glass is perfect. Everything is functioning as new. The Pentax 100 is a highly refined and precision instrument - one of the finest equatorial-mount refracting telescopes available at the time. Simply, this is a rare telescope in remarkable condition.

Includes (all original Pentax);

- Pentax 100, 4" f/12 achromatic (with cap and aperture stop-down). The lens has never been touched and needed no cleaning.
- 50mm guide scope (with compression cap)
- 6x30mm finder scope
- Prism diagonal
- Erecting prism
- Camera adapter
- Eyepiece magnifier
- Complete set of Pentax eyepieces, (Or-5, Or-6, K-9, K-12.5, K-25). The eyepieces were still in original plastic wrappings when I took possession.
- Complete set of Pentax filters (Blue LB-12, Yellow Y-48, Orange O-56, Red R-62 and Light-Diminishing Filter. The Light-Diminishing Filter is a deep-green filter for photographing the sun, diminishing the intensity of light to 0.01%).
- Sun screen assembly
- Sun glass and moon glass
- Complete Equatorial Mount
- Fine-tracking knobs
- Polar axis finder
- Tripod (with triangle tray)
- RA motor unit (with clutch)
- Quartz Oscillator motor drive unit, (includes a red map lamp on bottom and power source for illuminated reticle eyepiece which is not included).
- Micronta regulated 12 volt power supply (the only non-Pentax part)
- Fine hardwood cabinet
- User manuals, (Pentax 100, RA motor unit, Quartz oscillator motor drive unit, Pentax filters).

Noted imperfections are as follows (all quite minimal);
1- Some discoloration to the white paint at a few locations where the OTA and guide scope came in contact with the black foam inside the case for many years. I have removed all the old foam padding and replaced it with new black felt.
2- The mount has some nicks here and there.
3- The dew shield has a small flat spot towards the front end. I only noticed it when I started photographing it.
4- One of the finder scope bracket mounting bolts has been replaced.

The photos show the triangle tray attached upside-down to show the mounting knobs.

I sure do enjoy owning three premium refractors but I'm trying reeeeal hard to accept the fact that I don't actually "need" all three. So, I'm selling this one and possibly another at a later date to recoup at least some of the expenditure for this purchase.

I welcome any questions about this gem. I think these photos covered it pretty well, but, let me know if you'd like additional photographs of any aspect of this telescope.
