Moving sale. I need to find a new owner for this beauty. This is an excellent 3.5" John Brashear refractor from the 1900-1910 era. It is an unusual short focus telescope with typical outstanding Brashear optics. The telescope was once owned by the Astronomical Society of Harrisburg and shows typical cosmetic wear, but is mechanically and optically in good condition. The telescope comes with two celestial eyepieces and one terrestrial eyepiece mounted on a Brashear Alt-azimuth mount and adjustable tripod as supplied by the factory. Most unusual is the fitted wood case containing the telescope and tripod. My final price is $3500 which is a fraction of what I paid for it several years ago.
As an added incentive for the Brashear collector, for an additional $1000, I will include a very rare Brashear Helioscope eyepiece that, based on the inscription, was used on the Byrd Antarctic Expedition. I will not sell the Helioscope separately from the telescope.
As usual, I offer a 5% discount for current members of the Antique Telescope Society.
Buyer pays shipping and 3% PayPal fee if used or pickup in East Hampton, NY.
