Hello SCT imagers,

I’ve got an excellent condition Starizona .75X SCT Corrector for sale. The body is very clean, the glass looks excellent, and there is a good cap on each end to protect the glass.

The .75X version, which I believe was the first version of SCT corrector made by Starizona, was followed by their .63X versions (II thru IV). I had a C14, for which this was purchased, but I never made any significant progress on DSO imaging and so never used the .75X.

The C14 is gone, followed by some refractors and a Mewlon for which the SCT corrector is useless, and although I did pick up a C-11 Edge, these standard SCT correctors were made for un-corrected SCT’s and so they don’t function on Celestron Edge and Meade ACF SCT’s.

Starizona’s info on the  .75X included the following details:

The Starizona SCT Corrector is a focal reducer and field flattener for standard Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. It converts the telescope from f/10 to f/7.5, resulting in a wider field and faster imaging. f/7.5 is nearly 1.8 times faster than f/10! (Note that since the SCT Corrector is designed to correct the coma inherent in standard Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, it will not work properly with Celestron EdgeHD or Meade ACF optical systems.)

The field is optimized for a 35mm image circle. Spot sizes are up to 5 times smaller than the native telescope, and coma is completely eliminated. The result is much sharper stars across a large, flat field of view. A standard 2" mounting allows a variety of telescope attachment options.

The SCT Corrector has 90mm (3.5") of mechanical backfocus, accommodating a large variety of cameras and filter wheels. Spacers are required to set the exact backfocus distance.

Dimensions (without camera adapter):

Diameter: 2.00" (50.8mm)
Length: 1.85" (47mm) + 0.20" (5mm) thread
Weight: 7.7 oz (218g)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The current Starizona SCT Corrector is the 4th version, still at .63X, and retails for $399. A couple of interesting bits of info from the current model (IV) include:

  • The .63X version produces a 27mm image circle
  • All the Starizona SCT correctors (model I thru IV) have a 2" barrel that allows it to fit into a 2" visual back or 2" focuser
  • Threads on both ends of the corrector are T-threads (M42x.75)
The .75X corrector is about 1.8 times “faster” than a native SCT. The .63X versions (II thru IV) are 1.4 times faster than the .75X version I; but, you’re losing the 35mm image circle when you move from the .75X and go to the faster .63X and it’s 27mm image circle.

Please note that the threads on the .75X that I'm selling are 48mmx.75, NOT the M42 T-threads of the 4th version currently being sold.

I’m asking $249 for this .75X Version I, which covers Paypal fees and CONUS shipping via USPS Priority Mail. $230 will work for a local pickup. Orders from outside CONUS are welcome, with the buyer covering additional shipping and Paypal expenses in excess of the CONUS amounts.
