This is a late 2014 Celestron Nexstar 4SE optical tube. It will come with the original rear dust cap for the straight through port. It will not come with the front dust cover. It has the original finder base to fit many red dot-style finders, but no finder. It also has the dovetail bar plate, which will allow it to fit onto ANY Nexstar mount that utilizes the quick release saddle.

It will also fit to the Orion VersaGo mounts, Vixen Porta mounts, and any mount that uses the Vixen plate format: GP, Atlas, SkyView Pro, Sirius, Sphinx, LXD-500, ect.

Design:  4-inch f/13 maksutov with built-in flip mirror system

Optics:  StarBright XLT coatings (multicoated)

Barrel size:  1.25-inch

Materials:  cast and milled aluminum, polyvinyl plastics, steel, synthetic rubber, optical glass

Total tube length:  13.56-inches

Main tube diameter:  4.60-inches

Weight:  5 pounds

These Nexstar 4s are considerably heavier than the ETX of near size and feature thicker aluminum and plastic construction. And I consider them to be more durable. The Meades are more attractive. The focus and mirror lock knobs are very large and perfect for using gloves in the cold. And the Vixen-style dovetail plate makes this scope HIGHLY universal for use. IT DOES HAVE (2) #1/4-20 threads on the underside of the plate for mounting to a tripod pan head.

Optics in these scopes are very good overall, though I like the ETX-105 better. Still excellent for suburban astronomy pursuits with plossls and Kellners.

Cosmetics are excellent; the orange paint very excellent. Focuser and flip mirror works perfectly and smoothly. Collimation is right where it should be. The optics are very excellent on the corrector, primary is great with some dust and very minor pitting and secondary is great with dust. The built-in mirror has coating loss on the outermost right side (last photo) and it does not go into the light path. It can be avoided completely with looking straight through or attaching a threaded diagonal on the straight through port.

Happy to ship to anyone anywhere.
