Late 70’s Celestron 8 inch “orange tube” C8 w/triangle tripod, fork mount, & wedge

I purchased this from the original owner last year. He said he purchased the scope (along with the “locked triangle tripod”, wedge, and fork mount with clock drive) in 1979. The optics are in near mint condition. As you can see in the picture, there’s a tiny amount of dust on the outside of the corrector plate, but other than that, perfect.
There’s some cosmetic imperfections on the outside of the tube, but overall, the scope’s in excellent condition. I used it for visual observing and the focus mechanism works smoothly.

The original “locked triangle tripod”, wedge, and fork mount with clock drive are in great shape. There are some signs of use on the chrome legs, but all the black parts look excellent. I’ve misplaced the box I kept the AC power adapter in for the clock drive, but it worked fine last time I used it.

It will also come with the original “steamer trunk” storage case the old C8’s came with. The trunk has seen better days, but it has protected the OTA nicely over the decades.

I will sell this as a complete package (minus the ac adapter for $500 (obo). I would prefer to sell it all at once, but if someone wants just the OTA, I might be willing to do that. Make me an offer.
