I am offering my beloved Q7.  This one was built in 1987 with the serial number Z-7-603-BB-DP.  The overall condition or all the equipment is excellent and everything functions perfectly.  The OTA was serviced just three years ago at  the Mother Ship.  There are a few dust flakes on the optics which you can clean if you like, but they do not effect the performance at all.  This scope comes with the top of the line Zerodur mirror with broad band coatings.  There are a few cosmetic rub marks on the tube, but no dents or deep scratches.  There are some scratches on the bottom plate that mates with the fork, but these are inevitable.  I took lots of pictures so you won’t have any unhappy surprises.  Note that the original case for the OTA is included with new foam inserts.

Using this scope is magical.  The planets have sharp edges and details, even at the highest powers.  Viewing the Orian nebula is simply thrilling.  The whole package is heavy, but still semi-portable.  I’ve taken it to several Columbus Astronomical Society star parties in my mid-sized car and it was the hit of the show.  Hardly anyone has seen one of these rare Questars in person, and the line of people wanting a look thru it never stopped.

If you ordered this scope from Company 7 today, you would pay $11749 for the OTA, $6495 for the Fork Mount, and $3065 for the pier so I think my price is very fair.  I’ll also include two axial port adapters...one for 2 inch and one for 1.25 inch EPs.  These can also be used to mount a camera.  Note that the table top tripod leg set, oft missing, is included here. I am selling this gem only because I’m getting old (in my 70s) and I don’t want my wife or kids to be burdened with finding it a new home.

Shipping is something we can discuss.  Pickup here in Ohio would be great, but if that doesn’t work the whole assembly will need to go in four boxes.  I don’t think the cost would be a killer, but it will be a bit expensive.  Please ask any questions that you have, or feel free to ask for more photos.

thanks for looking,  Bill
