Excellent condition 2002 Takahashi Mewlon 250. This Dall-Kirkham reflector offers 10" aperture and a focal length of 3000 mm. It has a standard 2" visual back using a 2" Baader Click Lock. The focuser is electronic and operates via a handheld controller (w/9V battery) that moves the secondary mirror. This particular Mewlon was fitted with a few modification by Joe Castoro of the Binoscope Company. The push-pull sets of secondary mirror collimation screws were replaced by simpler spring-loaded screws, and a handle was added to the rear. It also has a Starlight Instruments FeatherTouch focuser, so focusing may be done manually, or the hand controller. It has a large Losmandy G11-style D dovetail plate. It has a second finder scope that is 60 mm and I think the cross-hair eyepiece is 9X. This keeps at least one finder scope in a good viewing position when the scope is mounted equatorially. A baseplate for a Telrad finder is foam-taped to the OTA (Telrad not included). Included, too, is a soft case made by Pacific Designs, and the Mewlon 250 manual.

Another modification to note is that the hand controller is hardwired into the scope rather than attaching with a plug. There is a new original plug and cord, original socket, and wiring diagrams, so it could be wired as original, but the present wiring is better in my opinion.

All the wonderful things you've ever read about the Mewlon are true. I'm a dedicated refractor fan and the Mewlon produces the most "refractor-like" images I've ever seen from a reflecting telescope. I can send articles that describe its performance, if asked. It has never been necessary to collimate this scope in the almost ten years I've owned it.

Optionally, after the buyer a this scope has first option, I will sell one magnetic Mewlon counterweight for $75.

The shipping costs are not included in this price, nor PayPal fee. It will be well packaged for safe delivery in a wood crate that can later have hardware added for use in storage and transportation, if desired.
