I am the original owner and received this telescope in April 2005 directly from Astro-Physics. It is a 160mm f/7.5 air spaced triplet APO with a 4" rotating focuser, serial number 160EDF10. Over the last year and a half that I have had it is has provided me with some incredible views. It must surely rank as one of the finest 6" class APO's ever produced and I sell mine only reluctantly. The reason for the sale is the arrival of a TEC-180FL. There appears to be a lot of this going around (see ad 455516).
The 160EDF comes standard with a nice padded case, a 4" to 2.7" adaptor, a 2.7" to 2" adaptor and a 4" diameter 2.2" length extension tube. The telescope also has the optional 9:1 FeatherTouch upgrade.
I am also including the following:
6.5" Astro-Physics mounting rings
17.25" Losamandy dovetail
quick release finder bracket
The optics, OTA, focuser, etc. are all in as new condition. The black anodized focuser surfaces do show my finger prints, however. The 4" extension tube, which is needed only when viewing straight through or when I was using the Barcon ahead of a Baader Mk.V binoviewer, was dropped by me one night while imaging planets. I have included a picture which shows the cosmetic dings. The mounting rings are also showing some signs of use with paint chipped off in a (very) few spots.
I would prefer local pickup and will knock $100 off for anyone doing so (I live in Essex County NJ). Otherwise buyer pays shipping costs (I have the box from the TEC-180FL which I plan on using for the 160EDF). Only USA, not interested in dealing with the hassles of international shipping, so sorry. I will take cash (yikes!) or check. I will have to wait for any checks to clear before shipping.
I will wait several days and the highest offer that meets or exceeds my asking price gets the scope. If I get no such offers I suppose the price will have to come down!
