I have a buyer in Canada interested in an eyepiece that I am selling.
My question is about payment. I don't take Pay Pal only M.O. or check. I'm not sure of what the proceedure would be as far as currency exchange and how I would cash said M.O. or check.

The buyer can send you a Canada Post MO payable in US funds that can be cashed at any USPS office without service charge. I have done this for as much as $350US, never a problem after 50 or so transactions.

Bank drafts can be used for large dollar value. In these cases, the Canadian banks transfer the account to a New York bank which makes it very easy for the receiver to deposit in a US bank. I've done this one or twice for as much as $1800US.

Your bank may levy a service charge for any cheques from outside the country. Most Canadian banks will also charge a hefty service fee to the issuer for any US cheques unless the account is in US funds. Because of the service fees which can be as high as $30 at each end, cheques are not a good way to go.

hope this helps,
