I have a 1980 classic orange C-5 with no apparent anti-reflection coating that I can see. Still gives great images.

Billy, look at the bright side: Zero coatings effectively mean a cleaner corrector plate - as dew and pollen accumulation can be routinely dealt with - a little bit more aggressively.

Billy, I could be wrong but Special Coatings were added and an option at one time with those older C-8's. The coatings were added for the benefit of photography only. You should not see a discernible difference visually. Enjoy the scope! Paul
