Unitron Black Paint

I'm sure this has been asked before. Does anyone know what type of black paint(enamel,lacquer,urethane...) is used for all the painted Unitron parts(mount,top of tripod,pier ect...)?
I would like to do it right. It would be great if someone knew the manufacturer.

The factory black "paint" on some parts is very thickly applied over a rather inferior metal casting. I'd advise against striping down to bare metal, if you can avoid it. It may be a lot of work to get from bare / pitted / rough metal back to a nice smooth Unitron finish.
