Found this in a local pawn shop 5 miles away. Took it home, did a good 3 1/2 hour deep clean on it (feared the worst was under the dust layers) only to discover this 1977 C5 not only complete, but in showroom condition! Had it out for a few hours tonight and love it. I never, ever get tired of having a happy, orange C5 sitting in the office or in the yard.

All the best

Outstanding find. smile

I have a 1999 vintage white tube C5+. It's an excellent scope and constantly amazes other club members with larger scopes. Besides the excellent optics, two things I appreciate are ZERO image shift while focusing and collimation that stays put year after year. The C5+ was my only scope until I bought a CPC-800 in 2007. The C5+ is now on a Celestron Advanced VX mount, which is also a great mount.

Good for you . And a nice find. It great to know that the vintage are still out there and being restored, taken care of and most importantly "being used". And just how elusive are these scopes like the small 4" blue and white's from the early Celestron days.

I had a C -5 like that.  Wish I never sold it.  What a great travel scope.
