What has happened to Celestron quality and repair?

The second Ultima 100ED Celestron just returned after my complaint about coma in the center of the field. It went from being pretty bad to absolutely unusable at any power.

Recently I paid Celestron to collimate several C90s; they came back worse than when I shipped them--twice!

Over the years I have had good results with Celestron warranty work and customer service. But in my experience they now appear to be out of control.

Hi Doug,

My luck with Celestron repair has been pretty good EXCEPT for the collimation issue. They did not do a good job at all.

They fixed my fork mount and electronics very well, but they simply dropped the ball with collimation.

Do you think they are doing worse now than they were about five years ago?

Doug:
This one's serious, and Celestron ought to know about it. Have you contacted them? They would certainly appreciate it.

I have an Ultima 2000 there right now for some repair work. I'll let you know how things turn out. I sure hope the money isn't wasted!
