6mm Ethos versus 6mm Delos

I was wondering if anyone has compared these two for contrast/resolution on the planets? Now as I understand the Delos may ever so slightly have the edge. For example some folks say that the Pentax 10mm and 14mm XW is out performed by the Ethos, but I found the opposite and sold my ethos and kept the XW's...

Personally I think that cramming 82 or 100 or 100+ degrees through an eyepiece is asking a bit too much, something has to give on the view. Hence my preference for XWs. I would expect that since the Delos designers were trying to compete with the XWs and would have taken advantage of the smaller fov to optimize the entier field better.

Regrettably I don't have the dough to get into Delos, Ethos, etc. and make all the direct comparisons. The Ethos line certainly is magnificent (I have used a number of Ethoi) but I prefer the XWs.

Hi Paul,

While I have not tried the 6mm Delos, I have compared to 10 Delos to the 10 Ethos.. Contrast and resolution were wonderful in both and a winner was just too close to call.

I have nearly all the Ethos and Panoptics that are out there.. and I sold the Delos 10mm becasue I perfer
the Panoptics line in this approx. FOV...

I have 3 sets of EP and some strays

1. Baader Hyperions - full set and these are what I share with the public.

2. University HD planetaries - full set and I share these with the public.

3. Pentax XW's full set - I share these with me, myself and I, rarely even get them out unless its just me smile

I have looked thru a lot of others including Ethoi....Still have the XW's

and I am getting warm fuzzies about it from what I read in the other replies LOL
