Easy Eyepiece tests?

Can anyone describe some fairly easy tests that the average person can do at home or in the field to determine the quality of an eyepiece?

I have several telescopes, but none are semi-APO, APO, or in anyway valuable.

This article is for beginers and has a lot of information concerning eyepieces including testing. It should be of help.
The testing of eyepieces requires you to check the on axis and off axis image. You look for color and astigmatism as well as pin cushion and field curvature. Also scatter and light loss as well as internal reflections with bright objects show be checked. These are not the only things but the main ones that I would look for when testing eyepieces
I am not sure I can give a quick and simple way to test for all of these. Maybe someone else has a simple method.
