Explorer scientific - difference between early vs late version of the 82 degree eyepieces

Hello,

Can anyone tell me the difference between the early and late version of the explorer scientific 82 eyepieces?  Also how can you tell the difference by looking at them?  I appreciate any help you can provide as I’m looking at buying some used eyepieces.

Depending on the focal length their may be discernible physical differences. Some may be nitrogen purged while others are argon purged to prevent moisture and fogging. Both will generally work quite well. Here's a comparo of the 30mm version by an experienced Russian amateur/vendor:

There is also the MAX vision line which are the same thing as the newer versions but without the gas purging and sell for less from an overseas supplier, Aliexpress.
