Anyone know whether the SP-DX will handle an MN-76 for reasonably stable visual use? Or would a beefier mount like the G-11 or EM-200 be required?

I used to have an MN76, and I put it on a Losmandy GM-8. It was a bit on the unstable side (the MN76 was a little too long for the GM-8 and caused too much settling time) The GM-8 is rated to hold up to about 30 lbs. I'm not sure about the SP-DX, but I think those are a bit smaller than the GM-8. The G-11 would be the ticket for use with an MN76.

It's not even close to enough. I've had 6", 7" and 8" MN's on various mounts. Even a carbon fiber MN-76 that a had a couple of years ago was the upper limit for the GP-DX. It was marginally OK for visual. It's not so much the weight, it's the length of the tube. I also had the Orion MN-61 on a GP-DX and it was OK for visual, but marginal for imaging. Something the size of a Losmandy GM-8 should be the minimum for an MN-76 so that you can get the most enjoyment out of it. A TAK Em-200, G-11 or an Atlas would be ideal.
