Someone said the GP-DX wasn't quite up to it for the long refractors. Any ideas for prefab mounts/tripods that would be? A G11 maybe? Seems like a solid mount could be more than two or three times the cost of a long tube achromat...

well that depends on the size of your scope, berry at d&g recomends 1.5 inch shafts for a 6 inch scope, a g11 would probably work great for a 4inch since it has 1.25inch shafts but they are spendy, i just picked up a c102 on a cg4 for a freind of mine, woundup taking the mount all apart to see if i could improve the fit, certainly inadequate, poor design, but keeping within their budget i managed to get rid of some of the slop, the older ds 10 mount would have a better choice in this case, the polaris would probably work great on an 80 or maybe 90 mm long tube but it all realy depends on what you want. john
