40 year old restored C14 with recirculating cooling w/Skywatcher DOB GOTO Conversion (CPC14)
Synscan DOB mounted Sky-Watcher Evostar 150mm/1200mm ED Refractor
"Rescued" Craig's List Orion 120mm/1000mm Refractor
Thanks Greg. This mod reminds me of a CPC1100 I once owned. In fact, this is why I made my "CPC" C14. For visual observing, which is what I do most, these "contraptions" are a joy to use. No fuss and easy to fire up and go astro-hunting. I will probably be selling my 10" Coulter Cass because it is now beginning to "collect dust." If I want to observe deep sky objects and perform some moon/planet astrophotography I generally use the C14. If I want to use a "seeing" buster and do some high res lunar/planetary observing, or view open clusters, the refractor usually comes out. As you well know, it's nice to have choices.Originally Posted by Greg ShafferBased on that title I couldnt help myself, I just knew I was going to behold a "contraption" and yep....I was right lol
Nice job Keith!
This is the best large refractor I have owned. Superb lens. Saturn and Jupiter at 375X on decent nights are a sight to behold. The pics taken through the instrument are not as good as the "crisp" views I'm getting with this scope.Originally Posted by William GreenWhat do you think of the 150ED's optics, for visual work? Is the scope a "keeper"?
