Does anyone have a reference for fast astrograph designs? Faster than F/3 for a 16803 CCD at between 40” and 60” focal length… I am considering making a larger astrograph…

What type of astrographic telescope? SCT, Newt, Refractor, Houghton? Try looking here: http://www.telescope-optics.net/ You might be able to get some design specs here. I hope this is helpful.

In that aperture range (14"-20") the only design that makes sense is a Newt with a big field corrector.

Google Riccardi-Honders. Seems applicable to ATM construction.

Astro-Physics makes one 12" f/3.8

Thanks for the support!

These instruments are never simple, I had hoped to find a simpler solution but have not.

I have completed the design of a 16" F/2.6 astrograph that fits in the 6' dome on the AP1200 mount. It is substantially different from the 8" F/2.6 I made 8 years ago that is in the dome now. I have extra glass and the tooling from a 12" Schmidt camera I made for a friend in the 70's. So I think I'll start there and make a 12" (6)element F/2.6 Schmidt Newtonian with 4 aspheric surfaces, as a proof of concept. I have started to post progress at www.hbastro.com.
