Drum shells? It seems to me that a series of unfinished snare drum shells attached end-to-end would make a very strong tube. I've heard of people using drum shells for secondary cages. This is just an idea and I haven't tried it.

The secondary cage on my Jstar Dob is made from a drumshell. It's tough stuff. Until I acquired the Jstar Truss Structure for my 12.5 inch Discovery, I pondered making an aluminum tube for it.

I talked the guys at the machine I use, they recommended having one rolled and welded.
