Hi,

While I'm not truly a "beginner" beginner, I'm still relatively new to a LOT of astronomy! I'm just getting involved with a local astro-society, and am wanting to document my outings--field trips to schools, objects observed, seeing conditions, number of kids at the scope, etc. So I'm hoping to glean some info from you more experienced guys.

Thanks,

Rob,

Some folks use high technology when observing and logging their observations. There's Astroplanner for example. Some planetarium software has it too. I have AP and someday I will use it... I guess I'm old fashioned. I like the feel of (acid free) paper, a fine mechanical pencil and the smell of ink on the page.

So I use a simple 3-ring binder, with pre-printed logging reports with space for my drawings.

Regards,

Gerald

Thanks for the quick responses...you definitely got me pointed in the right direction! I really appreciated the printable observation records. I'll be looking at the software a little closer later today.
