Barlow or new eyepiece ?

Hi all

I have an f/5 newtonian. I have a 20mm plossl that came with the scope and a 17mm Sirius plossl.

Should I buy a 2x barlow now or should I rather buy a 12mm plossl and get the barlow later.

Thanks in advance

A barlow's OK as a cost effective compromise, but it adds additional glass to absorb and reflect photons. Buy a 12mm now if you can afford it, and hold off on the barlow.

If you have much focal length, I'd suggest you may actually be happier with a longer eyepiece, rather than a shorter.

And, by the way, I'd go for a Barlow..

Thanks for the advice all - I will be purchasing a TAL Barlow then. I will get a 12.5mm eyepiece next after this.
