can someone tell me where M43 is in this pix?

I've looked at M42 a few times in my 10" dob and it looks wonderful with a 13mm Nagler.

I've never managed to figure out which blob of light is M43.

So, I'm attaching a recent Amart photo (from Jeff B.).

Can someone explain?

Is M43 the blob of light all the way in the left hand side of the frame? Or is it the blob of light closer to M42?

Clears,
Joe

Joseph:

Astrophotography shows so much detail that it is often difficult to recognize any similarities with what is seen at the eyepiece.

Sketches are better because they represent what a skilled observer might see. Lazy astrophotographers such as myself also produce images that are sometimes recognizable because of the relative short exposure times and lack of processing...

Maybe this will help. smile
