Equitorial Noob Question - Southern Sky

I'm about to take the leap from a very basic budget refractor and tripod to an Eq6-r Pro and a SW 200p Quattro 8" refractor, (I'm just waiting on the eq6 to arrive, so I haven't set it up yet). And for now, I'm just focusing on visual astronomy.

I plan to take the scope to dark sky locations too, but my back yard has a wall of trees to the north and an open view to the south. Herein lies my noob question...

If I have the eq mount polar aligned, is it possible to view objects in the open southern sky? Or am I'm limited to tracking in the 180 degree field of view surrounding Polaris to the North?
