Small scope mount recommendation?

I recently bought a C5 spotting scope from a fellow Astromarter, and quickly found that my camera tripod won't cut it. What mount/tripod would you recommend for use as a spotting scope mount AND an astro-mount? I'm thinking low-end... under $100.

In that price range, I like the Orion Paragon Plus XHD. New they are about $150, but you can get one gently used here for under $100 (ask me, I have 2 of them!)

Forget any sort of camera tripod. Have a look at the Orion Versago mounts.

John,

Just happened to be going through some old Sky & Telescopes, Oct. 98 has a small homebuilt pipe mount you might want to check out for your scope.

If you can't get a copy I'll be glad to send you a copy of the article.
