This area seems to be loaded with bright stars. I find it as pleasing to observe at low power as M45 and M44. Is this field of stars a cluster or just a bunch of stars that appear close together. Has it a name?

Thanks,

"Yeah, I nearly had it a couple of times."

It is usually referred to simply as the Alpha Persei Cluster, but I believe it is also designated as Melotte 20 or Collinder 39. Apparently it is a fairly new, close-by open cluster.
