Full Moon Occults Antares - June 6

The nearly Full Moon will occult magnitude +1.1 Antares in Scorpius during Saturday evening June 6 for observers in the eastern USA, the Caribbean and northern South America. I’ve created a graze map for the Americas, and diagrams with data for observers at Chicago’s Adler Planetarium. They can be seen by clicking: http://www.curtrenz.com/astronomical.html

I can provide occultation or graze data for other locations to those who reply to this thread with a longitude, latitude, time zone and altitude above sea level. Photos and descriptions of this event would be welcome additions to this thread.

I’ve created an Antares occultation graze map for the northeastern USA and nearby Canada in addition to the wider view for the Americas. I’ve also made graphics with preview images and data for New York, Miami and Dallas in addition to Chicago. They can be seen by clicking: http://www.curtrenz.com/astronomical.html

Observers on the graze path will be able to see the star winking on and off as lunar hills and valleys pass by. Those south and west of the graze path will witness a full occultation including both an immersion and emersion. Folks on the other side of the path will be shut out of the occultation but will see a close passage.
