50 years ago today.

The launch of Apollo 7. An 11 day mission to check out the command and service modules. The success of this mission was critical to the plans to send Apollo 8 to the Moon 2 months later.

Despite a near mutiny by the crew, the mission very successfully marks NASA's return to manned missions following a 2-year hiatus due to the Apollo 1 fire.

When you compare the bold and rapid steps taken by NASA in those early days, one has to wonder what has happened to the drive and ambition.... sad

* Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a day.
* Teach a man to use the internet and he won't bother you for weeks.
