Black Vultures eat carrion and cars

Here's a Black Vulture snacking on a windshield wiper blade, and a sign, both in Everglades National Park. The sign isn't kidding, we had our window gaskets chewed up. Apparently, the vultures think rubber smells delicious, like carrion. Some folks use plastic sheeting as a cover, but perhaps a good car cologne would suffice

I had no idea that vultures were into eating rubber car parts. Here's a picture I took last week of a buzzard polishing off a painted turtle that some moron managed to hit on the road into our apartment complex. It was a big turtle and I saw it dead in the road when I left for the grocery store. 45 minutes later, when I returned this guy had reduced it to almost nothing.
