200 countries agreed today to extend the Kyoto protocols limiting emissions from wealthy, industrialized countries. Delegates met in Quatar and extended the 1997 agreement to the year 2020 when a wider global treaty is expected to take effect. Financial assistance is also being offered to poor countries in order to help them cope with climate change.
