I've been too busy at work to post much but have the day off today. Just got the Big Green Egg fired up to 325º and put on a 17 lb. fresh Amish turkey. The kitchen smells great as my wife and daughter/son in law combo are busy making the cornbread stuffing and green bean casserole. My grandkids are playing in the family room. I have a lot to be thankful for. In about an hour I'll watch the Lions/Bills game and dinner is at 5.

I wish all of you guys a great day, too.

I think that was the best turkey I have ever cooked. Just a little hint of hickory smoke along with the lump charcoal. My wife seasoned it like a traditional roast in the oven bird. Once I made the mistake of using a BBQ rub and while it was good it wasn't traditional Thanksgiving turkey. The gravy that time, using the drippings, turned out really smoky. My kids loved it, but I thought it and the rub was too much, especially for the leftovers.

And the Lions almost won, some bad clock management cost them. BUT, they seem to be headed in the right direction for a change.
