I'll go with one of the World's most prestigious medical publications any day over the WHO, an organization steeped in politics.

The WHO lost a lot of credibility with its early handling of the Pandemic, including right here in this forum.

Dave
The Lancet has no credibility either, they were touting that HCQ, combined with AZM, and Zinc didn't do any good to cure Covid 19 and they got serious backlash to the point that they had to pull their politically motivated article.

I've heard numerous Doctors say that many of these medical publications have become political and they spoke of the Lancet specifically.

Believe whatever you want, I don't really care.

If we both wear masks the virus transmission possibilities go way, way down. Near zero.  On a broad statistical basis the R-factor gets pushed well below the 1.0 number if everyone in a community wears a mask in certain vital* situations.

*This mask-wearing, in combination with 2-metre distancing, is vital in indoor situations when there are many other people around.  Stores, mass transit vehicles, Planes, the line-up at the DMV etc.  No one is asking you to wear it in your car, or at home or when you are outdoors alone.

The bold statements by anti-mask people just show selfishness, not courage, not rustic patriotism......"Look, everybody!!!  I'm proud that I can spread the disease to others!!!"

Dave
As to your statement above, addressing the possibilities of contracting the virus, they don't go way down to near zero.

This is what you believe and you can as upset and frustrated as you want, because you can't give me scientific proof that your statement holds water.

Prove it.

I've been working and running around without a mask pretty much everywhere I've gone except some places I've worn it.

According to you, I should be dead.  I'm not, Darian isn't either and he indicated that he's interacted with people whereby he didn't wear a mask and neither did they and he's still here with us.

You can rant and rave all you want in your hysterical fashion because some people choose to live life and take moderate risks.

If you leftists are so terrified of life, and don't want to take any risks, then I suggest you stay home.

Rich, I went to small(11 students) homeschool graduation last night in a local auditorium. I'm guessing that about 125 attended. The crowds were mingling in the lobby and there were very few people wearing masks. No one was maintaining any distance from anyone else. I just do not get the impression that most people around here are overly concerned about this virus. I ran into a cousin(68 years old) of mine earlier today in a Hobby Lobby. He was ill with a slight fever a number of weeks ago and tested positive, but didn't think it was a big deal.

It's my understanding that the death rate from the virus is extremely low. At this point, it really is not something that concerns me other than government policies hindering businesses, churches, etc. from normal activities.

I agree with you Darian. It is in the interest of the left to keep the hysterics out there like Dave C. in full panic mode.  They want to insist that numbers are "spiking".

You might have noticed that in some areas of the country, they ignore absolute numbers and instead will say things such as "IN so and so county, the coronavirus has spiked to 150% of the previous weeks numbers".  They won't let you in on their little secret though that in So and so county, last weeks numbers were 6 new cases testing positive and now this week they had 9 new positives, a 150% increase.

This is the game they play.  And their deceit is such that they don't emphasize the fact that as numbers testing positive are going up, NATURALLY because more people are being tested, yet the numbers of daily deaths is going down.

Guys like Dave C. thinks he can "guilt" me into wearing a mask around him.  I certainly wouldn't purposely want to infect someone, however many health experts and professionals have said that the only way we can a handle on controlling this virus is to get Herd Immunity going.

Problem with Dave C. is that he thinks he's dealing w/a leftist numbers idiot, as most leftists are.

I think I have a handle on numbers and stats, and if he's so damned concerned about me or someone like me infecting him, I suggest he stay home and wrap himself in a cocoon.

In fact he put up a posting, chiding those of us who don't always wear a mask saying:

"Did you guys know the FDA just approved a drug that reduces your chance of getting Covid-19 by 5X?  It's trade name is called wearamaskasshole"

Well my response to him would be "kissmyassasshole"!  tongue

Carry on, America.  Don't wear a mask.  Because Freedom or because they don't work, or because Covid isn't contagious or isn't deadly to most people or because you ain't no chicken or because you're healthy so you won't die from it just some old person you don't even know or....

Attend Graduations and Weddings and any and all other indoor functions among crowds large and small with no distancing and no masks.

It's one thing if a dozen or so amateur astronomers from an out-of-the-way forum where it is rare for 50 people to ever read a post don't wear a mask unless they 'feel like it'.  It is quite another if tens of millions of Americans pursue this risky behaviour all at once.

Congrats, America! You're Number One!!!!

The headline of your link:

New U.S. coronavirus cases break record

Gee, what a shock.  We're testing more people than any other country, so were finding more cases.

Wow, that's amazing isn't it?  Gee Uncle Ernie, that's incredible.  You mean to tell me that if we test more people, then we'll find more positive cases??

Guess you weren't able to figure that out on your own?

Does the word DUH! mean anything to you?

You wrote this above in all your sarcasm:   "or isn't deadly to most people"

Umm.... can I clear up your confusion?

The fact is that it ISN'T deadly to MOST people.

Do you not know that by now?

Just because you are that uninformed and ignorant about the stats, don't lump the rest of us in with your ignorance regarding numbers.

As for the rest of your sarcasm, nobody said "it isn't contagious" or that the vast majority of people aren't wearing masks.

So instead of misleading  and emoting like a hysteric, with your over the top statements, try being honest for once and not exaggerating things.

You might have more credibility then.

Here's a suggestion, stay up in Canada, and you'll be safe as can be.  We really don't like your ugliness and nasty commentary about our people and America itself anyway.

You've made these type of comments before, about the USA.
