Picked up this book from the 'new book section' of the library the other day. I have read 'bits and pieces' about Boehoeffer for years, but really knew little about him.

If the man's life and ideas interest you at all, I think you will find reading this enjoyable. http://www.amazon.com/Bonhoeffer-Pastor-Martyr-Prophet-Spy/dp/1595551387/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1305724651&sr=1-1

One interesting fact I've come across in this book is that when Bonhoeffer first visited the US, sometime in the 1930's, he was very disappointed in what he encountered in the mainstream churches. The only place he found what he considered "genuine" Christianity was in the black churches in Harlem.

Don't know if any of you have ever listened to one of those radio programs where a black preacher is delivering his sermon to the congregation, but I occasionally come across one when traveling. If you actually take the time to listen, it can be very interesting. shocked
