Here's a real obscure one - LBN999

Hi Everyone,

Here is my latest image. It is a real obscure one called LBN 999. It doesn't seem to be imaged much. I can't find any other image of it on the Web. It is on the border of Monoceros and Orion. It is extremely faint – so much so that the LUM (which in this case is Ha data) was 8.75 hours just to get any reasonable data!! I took the RGB data in Bin2 mode so it’s a little noisy. I definitely need to get a lot more RGB data to overcome the noise.

The clouds are back so no imaging tonight. Hope your skies are clear.

Interesting!! There's a lot going on. The binned RGB data didn't hurt too much, it's a smooth looking image.

Amazing!
You are right this thing is obscure... I did not even know it existed! 8)
You've managed to capture great detail on what looks to be a very difficult object...

Thanks for sharing, and for the hard work... wink

That was a worthy project, Tom. That's a beautiful object and you've presented it very well. I put it on my list of possible targets, but I think I've only had about 9 hours of good imaging weather this whole winter.
Many thanks for bringing this one to our attention.

That is a nice image of a tough object, Tom! The structure within it is very interesting. You obviously don't mind a good challenge in life. wink

I have never seen a photo of this object before. Keep us posted on your progress with this one.
