Same night, 12/22/2005, same place, Blue Ridge Parway. Waiting for some clouds to move away from the Witch Head, I took IC 1396 before it was too low.
Canon 20D at ISO 1600, with the Canon EF-L 200mm lens at f/3.2. 12 x 3min30sec = 42 minutes total exposure.
What I like about this lens is that it's high quality. None of my 3 pictures posted tonight are cropped. You see the full frame, and the stars at the edges are very nice. The lens is the 200mm EF-L f/2.8, I almost used it fully opened.
