New films available - but why?

Check out, B & H Photo, in NYC, www.bhphotovideo.com

Select "Film" to browse their many offerings. Here are a few:

Rollei ATP1.1 - Advanced Technical Pan

Rollei R3 - ISO 25-6400 and see UV to near IR

Fujifilm Pro 800Z - "No reciprocity loss for 60 seconds"

More films in more formats. Why? Because film makers aren't making
money on digital that is often processed at home or not at all;
because many pros don't want to fuss with Photoshop, etc; because film is easy, and cheap, and versatile, can be scanned, and digitized: Top-of-theline DSLR with 22 megs for $3000, or, 35 mm SLR for under $1000 and 75 megs/JPEG frame on a drum scanner ($5 locally). How big is a TIFF file from a hi-res, drum scanned 35 mm? Only two files will fit on a CD (Local cost: $10 per image).
