Don't get out of the boat

These are young Saltwater crocodiles. Historically, these crocs can reach high population densities, but hunting, habitat loss, and competition for fish has reduced them considerably. This photo was taken at a croc farm in Thailand at feeding time. These are youngsters. Adults can reach dinosaur-like proportions, over 20 ft and upwards of a half ton. Salties are only exceeded in weight by the largest marine turtles (Leatherbacks), and in length by the largest boiid snakes (pythons, anacondas). There are stories of 30 ft monsters back in the day, and these would have been the largest living reptiles.
Salties are notorious man eaters!

Here is an adult Saltie, demonstrating its leaping ability, so maybe staying in the boat isn't enough! Apparently, these crocs will leap out of the water to snatch a roosting Flying Fox (a giant bat) from a low-hanging branch over the water.
