This is Testudo graeca (the "Greek Tortoise") or some subspecies thereof. Photographed among the ruins of Olympos in southern Turkey. They are a bit larger than a Box turtle, and smaller than our Desert Tortoise or southern Gopher Tortoise.

More Turkish wildlife among the Roman ruins: a lizard of unknown (to me) taxonomy. I can get as far as Family: Agamidae. This is the parallel family to the Iguanidae of the Americas. The one pictured here looks and lives like our Spiny lizards (Sceloporous), but is of course, in a separate family.
I'll call it the "Temple Agamid," since I only saw it basking on ancient walls.

on edit: a little googling, and I found a possible name for this guy, "Laudakia stellio"
