Day 1

I finally got everything together. Thankfully, the previous owner meticulously labeled and packaged everything and included the manuals. This may sound absolutely stupid but I wanted to make sure when I'm counterbalancing the scope with the weights that the bar should be parallel to the ground?

After goofing around I plan to put the guide scope back in its box until I am able to venture into imaging. I am able to see some things by opening my office window and the guide scope doesn't allow the GoTo to turn everywhere it wants without risking colliding with my desk etc.

All camera'd up! Haven't decided how to route the cables yet so just dangling loosely. My Atik 16IC USB camera arrived from Australia today. It's attached to the Celestron f/7.5 guidescope in this photo. The current plan is to use Phd 2 with the Atik for guiding. The Basler A102f firewire which arrived from Singapore last week is attached to the C8 with a Celestron f/6.3 reducer. The plan is still to hotrod this with some TEC peltier cooling. It receives power from the firewire so there's less cables to manage. Torsten from FireCapture has been looking into getting the Basler A102f supported in his wonderful software. smile Now if the snow would just stop! I have an 8' drift in my driveway and a 6' drift in front of our sidewalk. I had to crawl over it to get inside when I came home from work. LOL
