I recently had the pleasure of setting my scope up for my first night of observing on my very own dark sky site. 11 acres in the red rock country of southern Utah! grin It's just west of Capitol Reef National Park. We had signed the realtor's papers earlier that day, and just recently closed escrow. Aside from being a gorgeous setting, the sky there is significantly darker than the darkest sites that I now drive 1-2 hours to get to. And that's despite being right on the edge of town!
It was pretty cool to see the big, bright Milky Way rising from what will eventually be our home site.

Linton, congratulations! 8)
It is my dream to be able, one day, to retire and live away from it all... (at least, the light pollution...)

Enjoy it, my friend! 8)
