I am the Civil Air Patrol Commander in the Bend Oregon area. We are called the High Desert Composite Squadron. One benefit of the area is lots of clear sky. The unit that I belong to has middle school age kids, 12 and up. They have a great thirst for knowledge. Part of the CAP cadet aerospace program is about rockets and space flight. Because of the way CAP operates at the unit level means we use fund raisers for financing projects. If there is the possibility of having a small scope donated it could enhance the educational horizons of the cadets. Simple enough the kids can easily operate it. At the same time being sturdy and not easily damaged. Something like an 80mm or larger Celestron, Meade or?
