The Irvington High School, Fremont CA, Astronomy club has been going now for about 5 years or more. These are a great bunch of kids who show up to their astronomy club regularly and talk about astronomy.
I did a volunteer presentation to them recently about amatuer astronomy in the SF Bay Area, local astronomy websites, telescope stores, good viewing locations, etc.. I am also going to do some viewing activities with them this week. We're going to look at the sun on Wednesday after school and maybe at the sky possibly Thursday night. Many of the students have never even looked through a telescope so this will be a big deal for them.
The club has been going for over 5 years and they have no equipment, no sponsor, no field trips, nothing until now. I am trying to help them out but I'm asking for your help too.
If you have any old equipment you'd like to donate or even if you want to just donate some cash to help them purchase something please contact me. Anything would be appreciated.
