Wynn Dance. Unusual name, remarkable guy. He was a poker buddy for the last 6 years, playing twice a month up until just a month and a half ago. Even through the chemo, he would show up barely able to walk and he would sit there and joke and grin and, being a wicked good player, usually take the lion's share of chips from us. He was a United States Marine and as tough and vital a man as you will ever meet. Viet Nam Vet, self-made millionaire, father, and a huge supporter and participant in the building of the local Special Olympics organization. Some men just leave. Men like Wynn leave a gaping chasm when they go. I have 2 prayer requests... one that hopes enough of the upcoming generation have what it takes to fill the ragged holes left by men like Wynn when they go... and one for his family who are in such pain today and who did not deserve to see him off so soon.
