Fountain Hills (AZ) Library Telescopes stolen

On Monday evening, April 2, an adult male was observed on security footage walking out of the Fountain Hills branch library holding one of the Library Telescopes in each hand. They were on a table near the front desk, on hold waiting for the next patron on the wait list to pick them up. No-one in the library saw them leave.

You can see a picture of the library telescopes below.
. They have been extremely popular with the patrons. They are teal blue table-top alt-az 4.5" reflectors. The original Orion web site for them is here.

They are significantly modified, with an external (AA) battery case for the red dot finder, an 8-24mm Celestron zoom eyepiece (permanently attached with hex screws), and acorn nuts for the primary mirror adjustment screws (to keep little fingers from fiddling with the collimation).

If you happen to run across these either in person or on the web, please contact and we'll inform the Maricopa County Sheriff's Dept.
