cutting aluminium

Also, a metal cutting blade for a hand-held jigsaw works too. Its not as pretty as a band saw cut, but as Mitch said, it can be touched up with a hand file.

Patching Sonotube Screw Holes

Posted By George Klarmann

Here is my 2 cents. If the sonotube is old looking, and easy way to patch up holes is take a small piece of black velcro and stick it over the hole (either inside or out). It works great and it's cheap and fast. It just doesn't look pretty! But on black sonotube in the dark, who'll really notice!

Astronomy clubs near DC

Posted By George Klarmann

Don't forget the Northern Virginia Astronomy club (NOVAC) www.novac.com. It is huge, and they meet at G Mason university in Fairfax, VA. There is also the national capital observers. Besides the others listed above, there is also a club in Hagerstown, the Tristate Astronomers (www.tristateastronomers.org). This is the club that I belong to (but I live in Frederick county).

WOW! Really nice! You must have been standing near that marsh/lake for a while to get shots like that.

Absolutely beautiful shots Tyler! Pictures like that make me really miss living in Salt Lake. Is that one of the ski lift lodges from Deer Valley at the summit of your landscape shot?

Novak 20" Mirror Cell - Opinion / Advice?

Try MC telescopes (in PA). They make some very nice cells-very 'professional' looking.
They are a good company to do business with (as are Astrosystems)

Moonlite Ball and Socket

I use them as well on my dob. Make sure you use more than 4 truss poles though. They are much LESS rigid in this configuration unless you use a set of clamps at one end that holds the poles rigidly. On my 8 pole truss, they work great.
