Jupiter 2-1-04

Posted By jim phillips

Well, as I sit here hoping to get to my farm (and telescope) this weekend I began deleting AVIs from my Desktop (saved on DVD). I came across one from Feb 1 at 1:16-1:19 AM EST. I processed tit and it's not the best but here it is.

Io Transit

Posted By jim phillips

I spent all night trying and failed miserably. Saturn images tossed early. Jupiter looked like maybe the seeing would be a little better. This is the best that I could do, at least so far. The seeing just would not let me get to where I wanted to be. But, here's Io in transit with my TMB 8" F/9, Toucam pro, 3x barlow, 1085 images stacked.

Wind Holwing and Poor Seeing

Posted By jim phillips

but, with the Transits of Io and Ganymede happening I had to give it a try. At least being in an observatory allowed me to observe at all. The wind was impressive with strong gusts. This ia an image with my AP 9" F/15 folded apo. The lack of detail is due to poor seeing. Io is on the limb, then Ganymede's shadow, then Ganymede.

Apollo 11 Landing Site

Posted By jim phillips

Q while back i posted an image of the Apollo 11 Landing site taken under low light showing the low ridges in the area. This image was taken 3/27. The three "pointer" craterlets are easily visible. They were barely visible in the previous image. See plate 58 in the Times Atlas of the Moon. Plate 35 in REukl also shows the area but only one (Sabine C) of the three pointer craterlets is visible.
